Auditions for the second round of our spring semester are right around the corner. They begin on January 13th and end on January 15th. Callbacks will be held January 16th and 17th and the cast list will come out late on January 17th. The second round includes: Crimes of the Heart, Buried Child, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and The Complete History of America (Abridged). The information provided below will let you know what to prepare and what happens at auditions. If you would like to get more specific information about each of the shows or are interested in teching a show, just sign up for our mailing list here.
Please prepare a ONE minute monologue (it does NOT need to be memorized), or use one of the sides from the show. In order to encourage a higher attendance on the first day of auditions, if you would like to audition on this day you may prepare and perform TWO monologues.
Auditions will be held for three days in a row, starting on Sunday and ending on Tuesday. When you get to auditions, you will have to fill out a form and get your picture taken with a number. Then about four people will be called in at a time to the audition room. Each of the auditionees will perform his or her monologue, then if the directors want an auditionee to read for a specific part, they will give that person what we call a 'readback'. This is simply one of the sides that will be provided on this website and through email if you are on our mailing list. That auditionee will take as much time as they need to look over the readback then come back in to perform it. Callbacks are held on Wednesday and Thursday following auditions.
If you don't get any readbacks that DOES NOT mean that you won't receive a callback, and if you don't get any callbacks that DOES NOT mean that you won't be cast.
There will be an informational meeting where the directors will give a presentation about their shows, the various characters in each of them, and what they are looking for in auditions. Typically this takes place a few hours before auditions begin on Sunday.
